ride safeBus Safety Rules
Every one of our buses has a GPS tracker, a CCTV camera, a first-aid box, a trained driver and a woman attendant. Those are the school's part of the job. The child's part is a handful of rules that should be practised until they become habits.
At the stop
- Be at the stop five minutes early. The bus cannot wait, because other children are waiting too.
- Stand back from the road, in a line, with a parent or guardian.
- Wait until the bus stops completely and the attendant opens the door.
On the bus
- Sit in your seat and wear the seat belt where there is one.
- Keep hands, heads and bags inside the window.
- Speak softly. The driver needs to concentrate.
- Tell the attendant at once if you feel unwell or something is wrong.
Getting off
Children get off only at their own stop, and only to a parent or a guardian named on the pick-up card. If no one is at the stop, the child stays on the bus and the transport office calls the parents. The child is never left alone at a stop.
Crossing the road
Never cross in front of or behind the bus. Wait until the bus has left and the road is clear, then cross with the adult. Practise this with your child on a quiet road at home.
For parents
Keep your phone number updated with the transport office, and turn on bus alerts in the parent app. If someone new will pick your child up, send a signed note or an app message before 12 noon.
Parents also ask
Can I track the bus on my phone?
Yes. The parent app shows every bus live on a map and sends alerts at pick-up and drop-off.
Is there a woman attendant on every bus?
Yes, on every route, every day, from the first pick-up to the last drop.
How do I change my child's stop?
Fill in the request form at the transport office. Changes take effect from the first of the next month.
